After a dramatic facelift in 2003, Lambeau Field became the new high-tech gateway to Packerland. The atrium’s soaring, 94-ft (28.7-m) ceilings and towering glass wall are impressive, but made temperature control a nightmare in the 366,000-sq-ft (34,000-sq-m) space, especially in the winter. Hot air rose to the ceiling and the air handlers weren’t up to the task of pushing heat back down to the ground. Even with the thermostat turned up to 120°F (48.9°C), floor-level temperatures averaged below 60°F (15.5°C).

Once the fans were installed, the air handler’s temperature setting was lowered to 70°F (21.1°C), yet temperatures on the floor stay a constant 68° to 70°F (20° to 21.1°C).
