Case Study: Eight O'Clock Coffee
“
It is noticeably cooler! The Big Ass Fans do the job well and have certainly made a difference in air quality and coolness of the building.
Joseph Wright, Maintenance Coordinator
Problem
The 100,000-sq-ft (9,200-sq-m) Eight O’Clock Coffee production plant in Landover, Maryland, distributes more than 1 million pounds (450,000 kilograms) of coffee every six weeks. Production of that quantity requires roasting and packing equipment to run constantly, generating excess heat. Eight O’Clock Coffee needed a solution that would not only provide employee cooling, but also offer just the right amount of air movement for sensitive coffee bag sealing equipment, which would not operate properly if too much airflow was introduced.
Solution
Eight O’Clock Coffee looked to Big Ass Fans® for a solution, installing 20-ft (6m) and 24-ft (7.3-m) overhead fans in the open areas, as well as two 6-ft (1.8-m) wall-mounted fans within the packaging area. The fans provide the perfect amount of air circulation to keep employees cool and productive without interfering with the sealing process. As an added bonus, the plant floor is no longer littered with ineffective floor fans that pose safety concerns; instead the four Big Ass Fans work together to create a comfortable, productive environment.
