Gas Monkey Garage owners Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman needed air circulation to combat exhaust fumes and stay comfortable in the Texas heat. They considered installing air conditioning in their 18,000-sq-ft (1672.3-sq-m) building, but the high initial cost and prospect of expensive monthly electric bills turned them off. They also needed a solution to help rid the garage of the unwanted fumes and gases that cars and motorcycles often produce.
Gas Monkey Garage turned to Big Ass Fans® for their air circulation needs. They installed two 16-ft (4.8-m) diameter Powerfoil®X2.0 fans and two oscillating Yellow Jacket® fans in the shop and one 12-ft (3.6-m) Isis® fan in the showroom to move air throughout the entire space. In the summer months, the fans create a perceived cooling effect that makes occupants feel up to 10°F (5.6°C) cooler. In the winter months, slowing these large fans helps bring warm air that has risen to the ceiling back down to occupant level, creating uniform comfort throughout the space.
