Problem
Sundial, a premier shopping center in St. Petersburg, required high-end comfort. The Edwards Group spared no expense during renovation of the two-story indoor/outdoor center, making it as luxurious as possible. The owner wanted ceiling fans in the covered walkways, but needed fans that suited SUNDIAL’s modern aesthetic, provided powerful air movement to keep shoppers and diners comfortable in the Florida heat, and were durable enough to withstand the humid, and sometimes stormy, climate. Additionally, with nearly 100 fans throughout the center, they had to be easy to install and low-maintenance.
Solution
After trying five different ceiling fan models, the Edwards Group and Hennessy Construction Services, general contractors, chose Haiku® by Big Ass Fans®. Mark McClearnon, senior project superintendent, said, “Haiku puts out so much more air than the other options, and the assembly and install time was less than half that of the others. In addition, Haiku is pre-balanced. It was a win-win-win.” Unlike the other fans, Haiku’s durable composite finish didn’t rust or pit after a month outside, and the sleek design perfectly suited SUNDIAL’s aesthetics.
